Dr. Emmanuel Chongwe

Obstetrician Gynaecologist

Emmanuel Chongwe, M.D., is a highly motivated and skilled medical doctor specializing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. With a strong leadership style adaptable to dynamic organizational demands, Emmanuel brings extensive experience in public health and reproductive health education, ensuring high standards of care and technical proficiency across diverse medical tasks. He is recognized for his effective leadership in healthcare settings, maintaining composure and focus under challenging circumstances.


His skills include effective team leadership, analytical thinking with proficiency in computer literacy, and expertise in infectious disease management and control. He is a charismatic public speaker and adept in project design, development, and budget management, with a strong background in HIV/AIDS awareness training and programme management. Emmanuel has a rich work history, having served as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, developed policies in Maternal and Child Health, and managed the implementation of treatment protocols for TB/HIV, Malaria, and COVID-19. Previously, he held roles as a Medical Doctor at the Ministry of Health in Ndola, overseeing PMTCT and antenatal programs, conducting obstetric surgical procedures, and supervising junior physicians and medical students.


Dr. Emmanuel holds a Certificate in Leadership and Management in Global Health from the University of Washington (2021), a Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Copperbelt University (2021), an M.Sc. in Public Health from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium (2018), and a Bachelor of Medicine from the University of Zambia (2012).


His accomplishments include peer reviewing and co-authoring in Sexual Reproductive Health journals, receiving awards in basic surgical skills and advanced obstetric ultrasonography, and obtaining a YALI Certificate in Understanding the Rights of Women and Girls. Outside of medicine, Emmanuel enjoys listening to country music, playing the piano, playing soccer, shopping, fishing, watching movies, and traveling.
