Dr. Mwamba Mulamba is an esteemed medical doctor at Mary Begg Health Services, where he has been serving as the Chief Medical Officer since November 2012. With a robust educational background and extensive professional experience, Dr. Mulamba is dedicated to providing patient-centered, evidence-based, and ethical medical care.


Dr. Mulamba’s educational journey is distinguished by multiple advanced qualifications: he holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Cardiology from Plymouth University (UK) via the RILA Institute, a Diploma in Echocardiography from Vienna Medical School in Austria, a Masters in Medicine specializing in Primary Care/Family Medicine from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town, South Africa, and an MBChB from the University of Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo.


In addition to his formal education, Dr. Mulamba has pursued further training in various specialized areas, including HIV management with initial training completed in 2003 and refresher courses in 2008 and 2015, Tropical Medicine with specialized courses in 2010 and 2013, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification in 2017, and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification in 2018 and 2021.

Dr. Mulamba’s professional experience is equally impressive. He has a rich history of medical practice and leadership, having worked as a Senior Medical Officer at Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital under the Ministry of Health in Zambia from 2003 to 2008 and as a Junior Medical Officer completing internship rotations in Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Paediatrics from 2001 to 2003. Since 2012, he has been the Chief Medical Officer at Mary Begg Health Services.


Dr. Mulamba is an active member of several professional bodies, reflecting his commitment to continuous professional development and collaboration. These include the Health Professional Council of Zambia (HPCZ), the Zambia College of Physicians of Surgeons (ZAMCOS), the HIV Southern Africa Society (HIVSAS), the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), the Vienna Echo Group, and the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE).

Fluent in both French and English, Dr. Mulamba is multilingual, outside of his professional life, Dr. Mulamba is a jovial individual with a deep sense of family. He maintains a strong commitment to fitness and enjoys sports such as football, running, tennis, and gym activities. Additionally, he has a passion for photography, particularly astrophotography and bird photography, and he loves traveling.
